Mission

In order to sustain our growth in a fast moving sector, SPACEBEL is looking for a Software System Engineer to join our Flight Software team. The position is open at our premises in Liège (Angleur) where a close team is working daily on exciting projects in a calm and respectful atmosphere encouraging interaction.

With a passion for the Space sector and a strong interest in computer systems, our ideal colleague has a background in Space systems at software development level.

Under the guidance of the Flight Software Business Unit Manager, you will be in charge several activities. You will :

  • Based upon the mission and system requirements, contribute to the operational design development and software requirements and constraints specification.
  • From this, derive the flight software technical specification as well as the architecture and interfaces design.
  • Write the technical documentation and participate in the integration and validation plans definition.
  • Liaise and cooperate with Space agencies, aerospace customers, partners and subcontractors in order to find customer-tailed solutions while analysing the trade-offs and proposing appropriate technical choices will also be part of your duties.
  • Work in an international environment including short business trips to meet customers, partners or subcontractors.
  • Supervise the project team and take part in the flight software development in compliance with applicable standards and internal quality procedures will be another of your tasks.
  • Provide technical input to proposals following an invitation to tender of our potential customers.

Profile

  • You hold a university degree in Engineering in a Space related field (Aerospace, Physics, ...) with sound computing skills.
  • You have at least 5 years of professional experience in the Space sector. Experience in embedded software development is an asset.
  • You are acquainted with the principles of Space systems architecture, Space mechanics, operational concepts, basic orbital vehicle functions, avionics architecture, and board-board as well as board-ground interface protocols and standards.
  • You are mastering the entire software development cycle as well as the programming principles – ideally real-time – and associated languages and operating systems, with solid notions of software engineering, formal development methods, modelling tools and development environments.
  • Your excellent verbal and written communication skills enable you to interact efficiently with all interested parties. You have a very good command of technical English.
  • You are curious and eager to learning. You seek to improve yourself and contribute to the enhancement of all processes you are responsible for.
  • Thanks to your analytical and synthesising mind you easily identify, estimate and set priorities for your tasks.
  • Multi-skilled and flexible, you demonstrate a real ability to work independently and are a real team player.
