ANGELS: Two Successful Years in Space… with a SPACEBEL Touch

Launched on December 18th 2019 from Kourou, Europe’s spaceport in French Guiana, ANGELS (Argos Néo on a Generic Economical and Light Satellite), an innovative French nanosatellite demonstrator developed by CNES in cooperation with Hemeria, is still operating perfectly well.

For two years, ANGELS has been collecting data from the Argos beacons put into place by CNES – and also fitted with SPACEBEL simulation systems – for boat monitoring, tracking of animal migrations, marine resources management and ocean observations.
As its reliability, lifetime and operability exceed all initial expectations, CNES and Hemeria have recently signed a two and a half year life extension agreement.

The main goal of ANGELS is to initiate an industrial nanosatellite chain for scientific and commercial purposes in line with an outspoken New Space oriented approach.

In charge of the design and development of the ANGELS satellite system simulator, SPACEBEL is proud to contribute to the success of this technological jewel.
