SPACEBEL Shapes Data Access and Dissemination Web Portal for Hyperspectral Earth Observation Satellites
SPACEBEL has taken another major step forward in Earth observation innovation by by strengthening our partnership with constellr, a German based space company in thermal infrared satellite technology and services. Also present in Belgium, constellr is well known for its pioneering "Sky-Bee" small satellite systems supporting sustainable agriculture, efficient urban development and advanced infrastructure monitoring.
The new phase in our cooperation concerns the continuation of architecture and development activities and validation of the Operational Hyperspectral Data Store and Access platform (OHDSA).
From beginning 2024 onwards, SPACEBEL has been closely involved in the OHDSA infrastructure implementation, developed in collaboration with the European Space Agency (ESA) and led by constellr, prime contractor.
Our mission: to design and deploy a dynamic, open-source and cloud-based system for the acquisition, storage, distribution and fast and scalable access of the massive volumes of hyperspectral and thermal infrared imagery data from Earth observation satellites. This high-performance platform will be multi-cloud hosted and offer powerful possibilities to the entire geospatial community.
For SPACEBEL’s Remote Sensing Data Management team, this is an outstanding opportunity to apply their expertise to a meaningful initiative addressing some of the world’s most pressing challenges.
As both a constellr shareholder and trusted partner, SPACEBEL is proud to be part of this groundbreaking mission that aligns perfectly with our commitment to building a safer and more sustainable planet through space systems software and Earth observation solutions.
